Jeep® Brand Launches European Leg of the World Surf League Championship Tour in Portugal

  • The Jeep® brand is proud partner of the upcoming Portuguese events of the 2016 World Surf League (WSL) Men’s and Women’s Championship Tour.
  • The first stage of the competitions will be in Cascais (September 24 – October 2) with the Cascais Women’s Pro, followed by the men’s Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal (October 18 – 29).
  • Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Renegade are the official cars of the competitions in Portugal.


The World Surf League arrives in Europe with the Portuguese surfing competitions of the prestigious World Surf League Men’s and Women’s Championship Tour (CT). Two events will take place in Portugal: the first, the Cascais Women’s Pro, runs from September 24 – October 2; the second, the men’s Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal, will be held in Peniche from October 18 – 29. For the second year running, the Jeep brand will be supporting the WSL and its champions in Portugal as exclusive automotive Global Partner.


The Portuguese events of the prestigious WSL Championship Tour are just a part of the partnership between the World Surf League and the Jeep brand, a global agreement that sees the legendary American SUV brand as the WSL’s exclusive automotive Global Partner for the second consecutive year. Established last year with the scope of further strengthening its connection with the world of surfing, the partnership represents a unique opportunity for the Jeep brand to let the general public know its affinity with this sport and discover the entire range of the most highly awarded SUVs.


Indeed, surfing embodies the brand’s core values with the spirit of freedom, passion and adventure that distinguish all models of the Jeep range. Both the Jeep brand and the WSL share a common purpose of being perfectly at one with the environment and with nature, and the desire to go beyond the limits to live a unique experience. Among the Jeep activities organized during the upcoming Portuguese events, the exclusive shuttle service offered to the WSL athletes and involving the iconic Jeep Wrangler and the compact SUV Jeep Renegade.


The “Jeep Lounge” will be set up in the Sponsors’ Village and will be the place where visitors and surf enthusiasts can ask for information about the entire Jeep range. At the men’s competition in Peniche, the Jeep Lounge will also offer the opportunity to book a test drive with both Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Renegade.


To further enhance the Jeep brand’s strong affinity with surfing during both Portuguese events the public will be able to take part in “Jeep Ride”, a game available on the Jeep-people platform at www.jeep-people.com. Featuring different levels of difficulty, as well as 3D graphics and technology, Jeep Ride involves players in a unique driving adventure on the beach on board Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Renegade and the legendary Willys MB model. Players of the game will be competing for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Hawaii to attend the Billabong Pipe Masters, the final stage of the WSL Championship Tour to be held in Oahu, on December 8 – 20, 2016.


Finally, these world-class surfers and Jeep Ambassadors will be accessible to the fans during the Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal: the Brazilian champion Filipe Toledo and the talented young Italian surfer Roberto D’Amico.
